The ‘Flame Chilli’ (or similar “Fire” series) amaryllis is a striking Hippeastrum cultivar known for its intense, fiery red, trumpet-shaped blooms that bring dramatic color to indoor spaces during winter.

Flamed Chilli” (or sometimes referred to in similar, intensely striped red/white varieties like Flamed Amadeus or Red Stripe) is a striking, dramatic cultivar of the Amaryllis (specifically Hippeastrum) family, known for its fiery, high-contrast blooms that add a vibrant, tropical feel to indoor spaces during winter. These bulbs are popular for their ease of growth and ability to bring bold, festive colors to homes during the colder months.
Key Characteristics
  • Appearance: Features large, trumpet-shaped flowers with dramatic, fiery red and white striping or “flamed” patterns, often with a deep red, fiery aesthetic.
  • Size: The bulbs are generally large (measured in cm, often 30-32+ cm in circumference), which indicates they will produce multiple, sturdy, 18- to 24-inch stalks.
  • Bloom Time: When planted in fall, they typically bloom in 6 to 10 weeks, making them ideal for winter holidays.
Care and Cultivation
  • Planting: Plant the bulb in a well-draining pot, leaving the top one-third of the bulb above the soil line.
  • Sunlight: Requires bright, indirect light to thrive.
  • Watering: Water sparingly at first, increasing slightly once the plant starts growing. Do not let the soil get waterlogged.
  • Temperature: Prefers temperatures between 60°F and 75°F (15°C–24°C).
  • Post-Bloom Care: After flowering, cut the stem but keep the leaves, watering and fertilizing regularly until summer to allow the bulb to replenish for next year’s blooms.
Key Tips
  • Staking: Because the stalks are tall and flowers are large, they may require staking to prevent them from bending.
  • Reblooming: With proper care (including a 8-12 week dormant period in the fall), these bulbs can be brought to bloom again for many years.
  • Toxicity: Like all amaryllis, the bulb is toxic to pets if ingested.
